Paediatric Dentistry
Paediatric dentistry, a specialised field of dentistry dedicated to providing oral healthcare for children from infancy through to adolescence. Paediatric dentistry focuses on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of dental issues specific to children, along with managing their behaviour during dental visits. Paediatric dentists are specially trained to address the unique needs of growing children, including developmental concerns, tooth alignment, oral hygiene practices, and ensuring a positive dental experience that encourages lifelong oral health.
Traditionally the use of noisy and uncomfortable handheld tools and devices, including big needles and drills can be frightening to young children. The simple thought of needles for many children can be traumatic and children often try to avoid visits to the dentist due to the thought of the potential pain which causes them anxiety.
Laser dentistry offers benefits for children, including versatility, quicker healing, minimally invasive procedures, and reduced discomfort. In many cases the need for local anaesthesia is eliminated or simply reduced. The heat and vibration associated with dental drills can also often be avoided. Bleeding in soft tissue is reduced through the blood clotting properties of lasers. For soft tissue procedures, laser can also eliminate the need for sutures, further accelerating the healing process. Minimising the amount of time in the dental chair can also be a beneficial outcome when using lasers for dental procedures.
Soft-tissue lasers can be used to remove tongue and lip ties in infants, toddlers and children. Frenectomies carried out by a dental laser are relatively quick, more comfortable, heal quicker and have reduced chances of bleeding or becoming infected. There is absolutely no need for scissors to be used. The laser creates a clean wound where bleeding is minimised.

There are many considerations and aspects to consider when it comes to paediatric dentistry. Infants and children who are in their formative years will need to learn about oral health care. Their experience at the dentist will also shape their perception and reality once they reach adulthood. Laser technology offers several benefits in paediatric dentistry:
Avoidance of Drills
Drills and handheld tools can be noisy and uncomfortable for patients. Infants, toddlers and children can find these tools particularly scary and often try to avoid the dentist. Dental lasers provide much more comfort to patients as they are not noisy or traumatic, they do not cause the same vibrations and discomfort as traditional dental tools.
Needles and Anaesthesia
Needles and anaesthesia can be very confronting and traumatic for younger patients. Dental lasers provide greater comfort, and patients become particularly fond of the use of dental lasers as needles and anaesthesia can be avoided for many procedures.
Sutures
Dental lasers are highly precise, allowing for exact removal of tissue with minimal damage to surrounding areas. This precision reduces the need for sutures to close wounds since the laser can create a clean incision or tissue removal that heals more naturally without excessive bleeding or trauma.
Bleeding
Lasers have the ability to cut tissue while also cauterising blood vessels. This coagulation helps minimise bleeding, which, in turn, reduces the need for sutures to control or stop bleeding. This is particularly helpful for young children which helps to manage fear and distress.
Treatment time
Efficient procedures and reduced treatment duration translates to quicker recovery and fewer necessary follow-up appointments for patients enhancing ROI potential.
Healing duration
Lasers can stimulate the body’s natural healing processes. The use of lasers can encourage faster tissue regeneration and reduce inflammation and swelling. This enhances healing and reduces the amount of healing time required.
Bacteria and infections
Because lasers sterilise the tissue as they cut, there is a lower risk of bacteria and infection. When there is less chance of infection, the need for sutures to protect the wound or promote healing decreases.

Biosure
CDU Plus
An on demand high grade electrolytic ozonated water unit producing pure ozone from water which also delivers hydrogen rich water. This central disinfection unit is simply plumbed in below sink delivering chemical free ozonated water and hydrogen water through a motion censored faucet. Simply requires a water source and an electricity supply

Water Disinfection System (WDS)
A unit that sanitises dental water lines using an adjustable dosage strength of ozonated water. With built in electrode technology and a replaceable cell cartridge there is no longer a need to shock water lines using environmentally harmful chemicals. Ozonated water has been shown to be more effective, less harmful and a cost-effective way of managing the microbial counts in water lines. Water lines are maintained at safer levels using ozonated water when compared to regular daily chemical dosing. There is a WDS model that can be adapted to fit in almost all existing dental chairs.

SHIELD Space Sanitation System
Converts water into high purity ozone gas which is safely mixed and misted into the environment for air and surface sanitisation. The shield sanitises and also rapidly removes odours in a safe low concentration of ozone. Ideal for locations where there is an increased risk of infection.

Personal Ozone Tumbler
Ozonated water at a press of a button ideal for promoting healthy oral microbiome, improving everyday oral care, reducing germs and helping to remove bad breath. This portable and versatile unit reduces bacteria load and promotes healing and repair post oral surgery. A handy way to keep up oral hygiene without the use of chemicals.
